ATCO Pipelines and Nova Gas Transmission Limited (NGTL), a division of TransCanada Pipelines Limited, have received approvals from the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) and the National Energy Board (NEB) and a favorable opinion from the Competition Bureau of Canada to implement an initiative to integrate the companies’ two separate operating systems, rates, and customer service within the province of Alberta.
The arrangement involves the two companies combining physical assets under a single rates and services structure with a single commercial interface with customers but with each company separately managing assets within distinct operating territories throughout the province. This model ends duplicative tolling and operational activities and results in more efficient regulatory processes.
